Beginner climbing course
The first step in the climbing career of every RSAC member begins with an introductory climbing course: the top rope course! In this course, you will learn how to climb and belay safely in the climbing gym. During the lessons, you will practice proper belaying techniques, handling different belay devices, and catching a fall. After completing the course, you are allowed to climb independently in the gym.
Practical: The course is currently facilitated by de Klimmuur. You can sign up for it yourself. It’s recommended to choose the same dates as other RSAC members, so you’ll be in the same course group. With your Erasmus Sport pass, you get a 50% discount on the course, reducing the price to €62.50 instead of €125. After completing the course, you can climb (at Klimmuur) and boulder (at Beest) for free for one month. You will also receive a 10% discount for their stores, which you can also use to purchase equipment.
Everything you need for the course, including entry and equipment rental, is included. Afterwards, it is recommended to purchase your own harness, chalk bag, belay device, and carabiner (and optionally shoes) in a discounted bundle.
When can I join? Everyone is welcome to join the course! In fact, we highly recommend taking it, as you are not allowed to climb independently without it. Attendance is mandatory for all course evenings.
